I don't know if this is allowed here or not but I am very excited and nervous at the same time. lol. First mac in 6 years. We bought an imac and 2000 for the family but I've been on a Windows PC Laptop since 03 and its starting to crash all the time from viruses and the warranty was up in Dec.

THANK YOU all so much for all your help!! You helped my research emensly and GAVE me TRUE answers to my questions when other peoples response had been UPGRADE UPGRADE UPGRADE when it really didn't fit my needs.

Just in case anyone was wondering I bought the middle model notebook with an upgraded 120 GB hard drive and iwork preinstalled with student discount.

I also bought the iskin keyboard protector. I have a case I can use for now.

Questions.

I saw on I believe it was macskins.com that there was going to be an update later this month for macbook skins. Is this the company apple uses for ipod skins and such? Do you think Apple is going to come out with or feature some macbook skins on apple.com? I really want a blue one and something approved byapple so it doesn't do damage or overheat my computer.

I am physically disabled and use my laptop on the floor. Can I just put it up on a book like my pc laptop? I saw something on belkin like this cushtop. Has anyone used that?

Thanks again!!
Amy

Congrats Amy! The Macbook is definatly the more durable of the two, more portable, less weight. Try the second link. This stand is only $40 and its about book height if your putting your laptop on the floor. The first link is like the "Caddillac" of couch stands if you ask me. It is a little pricy thought ($150). Always keep your notebook on an even, flat, hard surface so it can get adequate ventillation. Don't know much about mac skins so I'll let somone else throw in on that. Have fun with your new comp!

P.S. Being that your Macbook is on the way, this is a perfect time to throw out your tv!
