I just picked up my MBA today and so far i love it. I switched from a dell XPS and i'm never looking back. I'm going to do more searches but can anyone recommend me things to do and not do? Any programs to save my battery life?

CONGRATULATIONS! Welcome to the club!

I say enjoy, and do everything you want to do with it for as long as it does it all for you!

Sad part is, like the rest of us, it will last you longer than you will allow it to... you will fall madly in love and feel like cheating on it with a new one with every update... fortunately for us MBA lovers, it looks like the updates are two years apart! But there are deep discounts with each update...

JUST ENJOY IT!

Nice!

I'd suggest either click2flash (safari plugin) to stop web sites loading flash automatically, or trying the new Flash Gala beta.
I also use Labtick to fix the keyboard backlight.

Don't listen to the haters - enjoy!

Congratulation - you will fall more and more in love with it

I agree with the two previous posts.

One thing that might become an issues is storage. I have several subscriptions to TV-Shows via iTunes, which takes up a lot of space, but with the use of my Time Capsule as an external hard drive I can easily store the shows there and wirelessly get them back on my MBA quickly.

I would therefore recommend you to get an time capsule due to storage but also because of the great comfort in always having a backup of everything.

I love my MBA:)

Welcome!

I prefer Network storage such as any NAS device with AFP sharing.

Hardware acceleration is now official in flash 10.1 or whatever the newest version is you dont need the gala release any more.

I don't store music, TV Shows, or anything like that on mine. 120 GB is fine for my apps and documents. All that media stuff is stored on an iTunes 2 TB drive. It wouldn't have mattered if I had the top of the line 17 inch laptop. That is why I switched to the Macbook Air. I don't miss the Macbook Pro.

The external Apple monitor makes my Air more useful as a desktop replacement at home with the added USB ports and larger screen.

For heavy lifting, I use the Mac Mini Server for encoding or iMovie tasks. I probably will make Server people upset, but I have no problems gaming with my Mac Mini server too. I have root and can do whatever I want. :D

Are you able to stream from your Time Capsule or do you have to transfer it and then watch it?

Apologies for being off topic. Congrats to the OP, i'm sure you'll still be picking it up to check out its good looks a year from now.

I will have to transfer it. (Which is very easy, simple choose the episode I want to watch with navigating on the time capsule through Finder - double click and the episode will load directly into iTunes and start playing when ready. After having watched it, I will simply deleted it from my MBA, but I will continue to have it on my time capsule).

Maybe it is possible to connect to the time capsule with the new Apple TV?

Hmm, that's a shame, although it does sound quite easy. Maybe that functionality will come at some point. Not that I have a Time Capsule yet, i'm just hoping.

Won't the new airplay allow you to do this? I bet Air Video will come out with an application to be able to stream to Macs and not just iOS devices
