So I just checked Apple's site and was surprised to see the preorder buttons up for the 3G iPad, so I gave it a shot.

My debit card was instantly charged, but my account just says that it will ship "Late April." If they charged my card, doesn't that mean they are readying to ship?

Please post pics when you get them.

If everyone made a post every time they ordered the iPad 3g, we can get an accurate number of how many macrumors members ordered 1.

To be fair, the mods here do usually catch the dupe threads, even if it's not *instantaneous*. And they have to put up with a lot of just-under-the-wire sniping at each other. (I'm occasionally guilty of this. Heh.) In short, cut 'em some slack.

Sorry, just looking to get a question answered, didn't see any similar posts.

there are a few threads on this and im sure most of them get deleted pretty quickly.

anytime you buy something with a debit card they will charge it to make sure it has enough funds. this is normal for almost all debit card transactions.

I don't know how many threads there are like this.

I pre-ordered a 64G 3G a week or so ago, using a debit card, and nothing was pre-authorized on my card. I check my balance multiple times a day and the current balance and available balance were never different.

I actually ended up cancelling the order a couple of days later after hearing a little too much about all of the Wi-Fi issues.

But the point of my post is, nothing was authorized against my debit card when I placed the order.

If they are authorizing immediately now, that makes me think something is different between now and a week or so again when I ordered.

I would hope that difference is the fact that they are about to begin shipping.
