...on a new Blackbook from Amazon. Comparing it to the 120GB model through Apple upgraded to 160GB, (and using an EDU discount) I'm still saving $200! A full retail purchase would've added even more, so I'm pretty happy (I think), and will work from home on Thursday (opted for two-day shipping).

Even at that, I'm still gonna watch for any major updates to the MBP next month, and though I doubt I'll see enough to make me want to change, you may still see a (gently) used MB on the forum in a month or so. Never say never...

Looking oh so forward to moving the G5 AND Dell stuff to the new machine, and migrating the G4's stuff to the G5. Looks like the weekend dance card has just been filled.

Congratulations. I purchased my black MacBook from Amazon in January and saved $100 with the Amazon rebate and $150 with a Amazon gift certificate someone gave me.

Congratulations!! Let us know how it goes and how you get on with it! You say you already have a Dell, a G4 and a G5, is the MacBook going to be an additional machine or is it going to take over the jobs of the others?

The 'Book will replace the G5 (and the Dell, if I can get away with it with our IT department. The Chairman uses one, so there's some hope...). The G5 will replace the G4, and the G4, I don't know yet. Maybe a message center or sumpin.

Cool, so is the Dell your work machine then I take it? Looking at your profile, I take it that the G4 is an iMac. Those are beautiful machines and still demand a premium on eBay since they're a bit of a collectors item these days. I still check eBay over here regularly hoping to pick up a deal but they're always too expensive.

On a side note, I just had a look at your website and that picture on the front page actually made me jump a little!! Haha!

Yeah, the Dell is company-provided, and our IT folks get a little cranky about what's on the corporate network.

The G4 is one of the desk lamp iMacs. The better half uses it for games & email. The G5 iMac is a first-gen (non-iSight) and a real workhorse - she'll inherit that one.

I hadn't thought about eBay for the G4, but since all the original packaging, etc is history...

Update to the Blackbook! It's in UPS's capable hands as I write this! Woo hoo!

Woohoo!! So tomorrow should be the day! :D

My better half's got a G4 that I'm secretly trying to replace for her with a MacBook. Its silly though, she doesn't want or need the upgrade and doesn't really understand the whole getting new computers thing if the old one did the job fine although I'm sure she'll appreciate the upgrade anyway.

First Intel machine then eh? Make sure you get lots of RAM, getting it up to 2GB is really cheap right now and Intel Macs really benefit from it.

..from the new Blackbook.

W00t!

Awesome, congratulations!! I got mine delivered yesterday, I couldn't believe how thin it was, I never really paid much attention to the whole "Mac laptops are thin" thing and never bothered to close the lid of one in store when I was playing with them. They really are *much* thinner than iBooks, aren't they?!!
