Good for you. You paid twice as much for the "apple" brand.

2x 6-core Xeons - $1599

ATI Radeon 5770 - $71

8GB 1333MHz ECC DDR3 Ram - $84

Motherboard - $439

1 TB hard drive + Power Unit ~$170

landing on ~$2363.

Time and effort needed to get these parts up and running 100% stable as a hackintosh: 1-10 days.

Warranty: 1-3 years for individual parts.

Maybe it was worth it to you but I don't think 1-10 days of learning and sacrificing the Mac Pro case is worth $2,332 to most people. I am seriously urging people to at least consider hackintoshing at this time.

No ripoff

what a rip off. lol. are you sure your not just posting a link to your eBay store hoping some sucker might buy one of them?

Coming from a G5 Quad 2005 and considering the same machine from apple minus the insignificant bump cost $6800.00 (tax included) I remain a happy camper.

I will replace this machine next year 2013 for the new Mac Pro Upgrade.

Awesome !

Just purchased New Mac pro mid 2010 12 core 2.93, GPU 5770, 8 gig ram, 1tb
244 days left on Apple warantee. $4695.00

2 more identical Mac Pros available here:

I too just bought a Mac Pro. It's awesome and I make my professional living working on it every day. Not really sure why the whiners here are bagging on you. Why are they here every day in the Mac Pro Forum bagging on people who buy Mac Pros? They are the real losers......
:apple:
Cindori and others...
Go hang in a Hackintosh or Windows forum and spew your BS....

1-10 days down in a pro world IS more then the savings on building it yourself.

You are forgetting the case and the operating system. And there is no way you get a 1TB HDD and an truly adequate power unit for two xeon for $170. Case + real power supply + 1 TB HDD is really going to be more like $500.

You don't really need to buy a new OS for a new Mac. A Mac OSX install disk can be used for unlimited computers. Myself I just used a clone of my current Macbook's hard drive for my hackintosh, didnt have to install a new OS at all.

You don't need anymore then ~600w power supply for such a computer unless you plan to go multi GPU.

The TDP of a Xeon CPU is around 90w. You don't magically need 1000w+ PSU becuase you go multi processor.

I did not include a case because that's up to yourself to decide.

You could be very thrifty and just leave the parts scattered around your room.

Yes ! That's JUST LIKE a real Mac Pro...

And your Kia is just like a Lamborghini..... Really! :D

The analysis is illogical. Kias and Lamborghinis don't use parts from the same maker.

Macs and Hackintoshes both use PC/Intel parts. The difference is the case. A Mac nowadays is a PC with an Apple logo on it.

So there's a mid 2012 Mac Pro but Apple removed the 'new' from the website? Confused...

It's price reordering. Same tech. 133MHz bump on the high end 12-core and a "new" 12-core version of the paltry clocked 2.4GHz.

Yep! Heck, if my machine went down for even 10 minutes, and I were in the middle of doing a show, I might feel kinda silly, now, mightn't I???

No way whatsoever. This is my life's work. I shall pay for dependability.

I definitely would not cheap out on a power supply. If you max it out with RAM, HDD/SSD, PCIe cards you need some leeway under various load conditions. If you have it running full tilt you may eventually run into problems later on.
