And need to be aligned as such for ear fit as well as case fit.

I used to have a pair of wired earbuds that had oval shape silicone tips, and the instruction said to line up the line on the tips with the line on the earbuds for best fit / sound quality. Not sure if this is the case with the APP.

How do you mean by ear fit?
To get a more sealed fit it works best if the tip is placed as the same shape as the oval.

Yes. I just assumed it was round. I guess it’s going to make it more difficult for a 3rd party vender like Comply to make a alternative tip?

Me neither. Though I have been playing more with rotating them and will occasionally get the magic green success message (usually in one or the other), which I did not get before.
Are you rotating the tip or the Airpod? I’m finding it easier to get a good fit once the tip is aligned correctly on the airpod

How would you rotate the silicon tip?? It's oval shaped as you said, no rotation possible. There is only one way to align it properly.

I find I get a better seal if I rotate the AirPods forward after inserting them in my ears. I think that oval moves around and closes everything off, for my ears at least. So, the AirPod tip is pointed at a 45 with my jawline so to speak.
