Just received 27", i7, SSD+1TB, 4gb... woow!

Well, just wanted to tell you guys that I FINALLY received my iMac 27".

It is loaded with the SSD and a 1tb disc, i7 processor, 4gb of memory (will soon be upgraded to 8 I believe... And then also the trackpad, which I kind of found a bit silly when released.

First impression is: FAST! Going from my uMBP 2.8C2D (the big one of the last generation before i5/i7) I am sooo surprised that the speed is THAT much of a difference.

Wonder if I ever use all that power hidden in this machine.

Ps. No yellow ting anywhere on the screen. No buzzing, no sounds at all... just quite, quite, quite and a BEAUTIFUL screen..
 
I almost forgot... the touchpad is awesome. I haven't really used the mouse yet, it feels so natural just to "move the hand" to the trackpad, and just use a finger. Perfect option that I will definately recommend.
 
I wonder how it is to play games with a trackpad, like WoW for example..

Thinking of getting a trackpad, just because it looks cool :p, when I order my iMac in a week.. Soooooooooooon..

For that I cannot recommend it for sure. Tried it some times on my uMBP - no good! RTS like StarCraft 2 is okay on the other hand. Easier to control I think.

What I so far dislikes is actually just the keyboard do not have illuminated buttons. A few LEDs wouldn't take that much power. :(

Congrats. Did you have an SSD in your old MBP? If not, then the speed difference is probably from that primarily in addition to the quad-core processor.
 
It seems as if the 2010 imacs are doing better in the yellow screen department. At least that is what I notice from the threads I follow.

Nope not yet. But I must admit that it will probably be an upgrade for my uMBP. It really rocks!

You could have sent a base model i7 with no SSD and send it to OWC and paid $1600.93 less than apples price for a 128gb SSD upgrade with a 2TB hard drive. And Add 4GB of Extra ram from OWC.

I got 16GB or PC1333 ram from super talent for my new 27 IMAC off eBay for $375.91
over $600 less than apples price.

Apple give a 256GB SSD. And buying from OWC saves you about $150 after shipping, and you void your warranty by sending it for OWC to do.

Well, it is not always about the money... as far as I know, OWC is not operating in Denmark, making it:
- Ireland -> Denmark
- Denmark -> OWC
- OWC -> Denmark

I think that the waiting time was long enough, and given the fact that my iMac is completely perfect, it fits me very well and the price is fine for me. Cheaper is always better, but not when they have to take my new iMac apart even before I can lick the screen my-self :)eek::eek:)

Ohh, and regarding the $$$... In Denmark we are charged (incl. remote, touchpad and charger) 23800 DKK which is 4.157,93 USD as of this moment.

Doesn't their operation have a reputation for being a bit hairy?
