Hey Guys!

I just received my new 27" Quadcore Imac a few hours back and decided to put it to the yellow screen test. Here are some of the pics I snapped. I feel like it has a yellowish tint to it. I have been rather unfortunate when it comes to purchases from apple. Had to return my macbook pro twice owing to different issues associated with each of them. I was hoping to get a issue free Imac. Anyway, I would greatly appreciate your opinions on the same. Would you consider it worthy of a replacement?

Looks fine to me.

My advice. Stop trying to find a problem, and enjoy your new purchase. If you have to resort to these kind of tests to even see the problem, why let it bug you.

Unless you are doing professional photo editing to calibrated printers you will never notice a problem with this display in your daily use.

Thanks for the reply Dwhite78. I appreciate your opinion on this matter. Its just that I don't want to end up realizing that I have a faulty unit after the 14 day return policy. This is my third Imac(as in I've owned three generation of Imacs) and I absolutely love it.

I would love for others to chime in and express their opinions too! :)

Thanks
Mak

Is that big bird on your screen?

so much yellow.....

I believe the pic that you are referring to is the one I took with the camera flash on. It appears to be really yellow. But when you look at the one without the camera flash, it appears to be slightly yellowish!

It is hard to tell with your pictures.

On my i7 that I returned it was very easy to see a difference in the color of the background on this site. The white background in the message / text boxes are white on top, and off white/yellow towards the bottom of the page.

If you cannot tell that there is an issue, then maybe there is no issue at all. Or, you are like others who may have a minor issue, but you do not see or detect them. Either way, if you do not see yellow, just enjoy the new iMac.

you do realize that Macrumors designs their site like that on purpose just to mess with people like you!!

:p

Thank you so much all! The more encouragement I receive, the more I seem to believe that I don't have a flawed system. As always greatly appreciate it.

Thanks :)

I think a good rule of thumb is if you have to ask a 3rd party if something exists then it probably doesn't.

Enjoy your new iMac!

If you are unable to determine weather it is yellow or not, then perhaps this isn't a issue at all? Evidently you cannot see any problem, why search for one?

The display looks good to me though.

Even though you could use a certified grey card when you take the picture there is no reason why the white balance should be 100% correct. The slight yellow in your pictures may as well be the camera misinterpreting the white balance from the screen LED's combined with your room lighting.

Unless the display is uneven yellow I would say that it's fine. You could probably calibrate your display and remove an even tint if there is one.

Apple does not killed the yellow tint problem properly and never give the 100% result. Replacement ordered right away, what a waist of resources from both Apple and the consumer this is................

Was that even English? Strong grammar.

Any way, regarding the OP's original post, I don't see a thing in those pics that is wrong. Either it's your camera all it's all in your head.

Had a look at the first picture only. It has ~7% red deficiency in the left bottom corner (seen as cyan coloration), otherwise seems to be relatively OK.

Just Received iMac...I don't see the problem

Hi. Based on your posted pics, I'd say you have a good screen! I don't see any yellowing...of course, you are at the Mac itself.

If you need to test the machine to find a problem you don't have a problem. If the way it looks to your naked eye is unacceptable then contact Applecare.
