Just reformatted iMac, and already having line tearing!

Hi everyone, I was having annoyances with my iMac because it started having line tearing on the screen. I thought reformatting it would fix it, but when it was installing the updates, it was back.

Any ideas on what is going on with my iMac? (I believe it was the last model before they went to the aluminum bodies, and I am running Snow Leopard...)

I would assume hardware damage, likely the graphics card.
