Hey All - Despite criticizing some for being too picky with their iMacs, I too fell into the trap of perfection. Apple replaced my 27" iMac quad i5 over the weekend for a few minor flaws and I just set it up this afternoon.

I am sooo much happier with this iMac - everything is as perfect as I could have hoped for.:D:p:D

Now I am just going to sit back and enjoy this baby without looking for every potential flaw it may have. Here's a pic of my set up for your viewing pleasure!;)

Congrats on a great machine! BTW, that's a sweet desk arrangement that you have there! Simple, yet elegant.

Thanks!:D I always like seeing other people's desk set ups so feel free to attach them to this thread.

PS - Yes, I'm sure other threads like that exist buried somewhere deep in MR Forums...:p

What issues did you have with the original machine? Did they ship out a replacement for you or did you go to a store? I'm thinking of having my 5th iMac replaced for dead pixels, but I'm sick of driving to the store and lugging that massive box around.

If you like seeing peoples office setups check out lifehacker.com. They have a weekly thing.

Nice setup, dude! Where did you get that desk from? Thanks.

I had my iMac replaced due to the glass panel being out of alignment and the iSight camera hole not lining up...along with 3 dead pixels and dust behind the screen. My new one is perfect:)

The desk is from Z-Line Designs and bought from Staples but I don't think it's available anymore, sorry.

Did you have to go into the Apple store or did they send you out a replacement, and if so, did you get to keep the first one until the second one arrived?

i just sent my refurb i5 27" for replacement. you have to mail it in before they send you the new one (and they will not send out the replacement until they receive the old one). you can however take into the apple store for repairs or replacement parts. i had my display replaced still had the same issues, trying my luck on a complete replacement this time.

I boxed up my original iMac and carried that bad boy through the mall and into the Apple Store. Waited 40 minutes past my Genius Bar appointment time, but once called, the Genius unboxed my iMac and I pointed out all of the issues that were bugging me.

I explained to him in a very humble, soft and sincere way that these flaws were enough to "taint" the entire $2,000 purchase for me and that I would appreciate a replacement since I'd be staring at this machine for 3 years. He completely understood and went into the back room to explain my situation to a manager.

After about 2 minutes, he walked out with a brand new iMac box and a thumbs up for me. I walked out of there with a full replacement even though I was more than 14 days outside of purchase. Very happy with the process overall. Hope this info helps:)

I am waiting for my 3rd one now. The first had the yellow screen issue, the second had bad winey fan noise. These machines are refurbished model the ones that have just been updated. The savings was over NZ$850. So am hoping the next one is like yours perfect.

I am also waiting for my replacment. Hoping that it is as perfect as yours!

Great! Same story here! Three days ago I got my final iMac replacement after a string of iMacs. This one is as good as it gets and I am happy.

It's a thing of beauty!
