Hello,

I just recently switched to Mac and I am having some problems maybe someone can help me with.

1.) iPhoto has reduced my photo collection by almost half. Yesterday all the photos in my library worked fine. Today, when I opened up iPhoto, some of them give me an error saying they might be corrupted, other just dont respond at all, as if they dont exist. This is very very frustrating.

2.) When I have a Firefox window open, and I click on the firefox dock icon, should another browser window open for me?? I thought it was doing this earlier, but now its not. And when I have a chat window open in Adium, and someone signs on, I click on the dock icon, but the contact list wont come up.

If anyone can help me, or tell me what Ive done wrong I would really appreciate it.

1) There is a possibility the files were corrupted on your PC and then you copied them to your mac. This has happened to me. I got a virus on my PC once, where it left the thumbnail, but then I tried to open it in say photoshop or copied them to my mac into iphoto, but the only thing there were the thumbnails. Maybe try repair permissions? See if they open on your PC.

2)I dont use firefox, I use Safari, but if its the same as Safari then clicking the dock wont open a new window. You have to either go to File-->New Window, or use the keyboard shortcut Command (Key with the picure of the apple logo nxt to the space bar) + N. CMD+N opens a new window in many programs. With Adium, to get the contact list, you have to right click, click and hold, or control click the adium icon in the dock, and then wait for the menu to pop up. Then go to contact list at the top, and your buddy list will come back up. You can have it so Adium says who signs on in speech, or flashes who signs on/off over the icon in the dock.

Good Luck. Let me know if that helps at all.

Were you playing around in the photos folder on your computer? If you change stuff around in the iPhoto library outside of iPhoto you can really mess of the program itself. I always try to describe iPhoto like iTunes. You wouldn't go into the finder to find a song to play, you would go into iTunes. Think of iPhoto as the same, to find a particular photo, open up iPhoto and search for it.

I'm not sure if it will help you, but you can try this. Open iPhoto while holding down option and apple keys. It will give you a list of things to try, select all of them and press ok.

This may take a while so be patient.
