Just to clarify on Memory for MBP

I recently got the C2D MBP and would like to upgrade the RAM on it, however I wanted to make sure that it takes the 200-pin sticks?

(Of course I could check the manual, but I'm too lazy. )

MBPs take 200-pin DDR2-667 PC2-5300 1.8V SO-DIMMs.

Most good RAM vendors have an online wizard that will automatically select the appropriate RAM for your machine.

Yeah, those vendors also charge an arm and a leg. So I'm resorting to Ebay, but that's a whole host of other problems...

It will fit in the MBP C2D. Whether it works or not is a different question and cannot be guessed from the specs. In general, Macs require RAM to conform much more tightly to the specifications and serial presence detect settings, than PCs do. In specific, the MacBook Pro has had problems with inexpensive DDR2 SODIMMs which are not particularly voltage-stable.

Unless you want to take the risk of testing it yourself and possibly having the cost of shipping and/or restocking charges if it doesn't work - I recommend looking at a reputable dealer who tests and guarantees Mac compatibility and offers a no-cost return/DOA policy.

Honestly that's BS... The MBP's use the same Intel chipset as most PC laptops on the market and that is what determines the required specs for RAM.

That said, there are some ****** RAM vendors out there so you should look for reviews, but as long as the specs are right it should work fine.

OWC and DMS come highly recommended by CanadaRAM, myself, and others.

The RAM on both CD Macbooks and MBP's and the new C2D MBP's is all the same, right? I've decided to return my Macbook (still within 14 days) for a new MBP and will be using one of the 1GB sticks I bought for the Macbook in the MBP, assuming that it works.

Yes, they use the same RAM, it should work fine.
