This thing is the ultimate mini power machine lol.

I have the dual core i7.

The SSD is a OCZ Vertex 4, and the 16gb of ram is Corsair.

Write speed is 300 mbs and read is 500+ mbs. Applications just flash into open state, and I've never felt a more responsive machine.

I use this as my main Xcode dev machine and I'm greatly pleased, I'd recommend this upgrade to anyone.

Total cost for the upgrade was $304.74...well worth it.

Also have a retina Macbook Pro coming in the mail.

sure you did... I did too get some upgrades... my GFs R8 GT couldn't keep up with my veyron, so we bumped her up to the new pagani huayra ... she's still above 3s for 0-60, but I guess this will do for now.

ps. the R8 GT will go to my little brother, he's just about to graduate high school.

wasn't trolling :) ... but yea, I think you'll have one helluva time posting a link to the parts you purchased for the price you specified. good luck.

No doubt I'd buy 3 sets if I could get a 512gb SSD and 16gb of RAM for only $300. 48gb of RAM and 1.5tb of SSD goodness for less than 900 seems like a stretch to me! 500 maybe...

Edit: Newegg has the 512g vertex 4 for 700... Just saying

Lmao..I'm an idiot.

I upgraded with 256 SD! lol

512 has been in my thoughts for a while but way to expensive.

i went with a much smaller SSD (120gb OWC) but also added 16gb 1600 ram to my new i5 mini and am still amazed at how fast it is.

Not really .

16GB ram from OWC = $159.99

256GB OCZ Vertex 4 SSD from Amazon = 196.99

Total = $357

Not including tax and/or shipping. That could bring it up to $375

OP : can you link to where you got those items so cheap ? Especially the SSD.

Thanks.

The price of the vertex has already gone up by 20 dollars since i bought it.

I bought it for 219.99 three days ago.

You can get the same two sticks of ram (essentially) at Fry's Electronics for $92 right now. They're Corsairs instead of OWCs but who cares.

Yeah, RAM is getting cheap. I got a email advert for 16GB of ram from NewEgg last month when I got my set for 82 bucks. Shop around enough and you can get some excellent deals.
