These POTD and weekly contests show some incredible work from some very talented people. It's also an open, encouraging community of folks who love photos and the art of capturing moments in time via the photographic arts.

I know I have a long way to go to even be considered a "decent" photographer, but I truly love seeing an image in my mind and then setting out to create that image in media.

I continue to be inspired by the others that post in these threads.

I am also thankful for the digital medium (as opposed to the days of film), if for no other reason, than the ability to experiment without the cost of film and processing, and for the almost instant feedback afforded by being immediately able to review the shot.

I just wanted to let you all know that I appreciate you sharing your craft, and am thankful for the warm welcome and kind comments that I've received since becoming involved in this section of MacRumors.

You are kidding right? The portraits you have been putting out are incredible! Fantastic images.

We all are here for the same reason. To learn and develop in a non-competitive, friendly supportive environment.

Apart from @The Bad Guy... He really is one with that comp theme this week!

Lol... It's great in here.

I read a few other photography sites and forums, but this is the only one I'm a member of and post on (apart from Flickr).
Thats mainly because the guys (and girls) in here are a great bunch who have been spot on with the critique I have received over my first few years of photography.
I very rarely read comments I don't agree with.
Plus the work on here is so good. I'd say I've noticed the improvement in the last few years. Keep up the good work everyone.

The thing is, you're photos are as good as anyone's :)

We all try and help each other, so let me add my own thanks to the community here for the encouragement to better my efforts.

Cheers :)

Hugh

Agree with Hugh here. You've turned in some pretty great pics of your own @dwfaust. The DP sub-form is the best part of MR and one of the few photography forums I post to regularly (when I'm not swamped at work). Most everyone here is very encouraging because I think the goal here is to help ourselves and others improve.

This is one of the best photography communities on the interwebs, and I'm glad you're here! I've always enjoyed your photos.

With the talent on this forum, we could form a photography collective rivaling that of Magnum... or the local high school. Not sure.

You are certainly an inspiration to all of us - I've really liked your portraits especially since I for one can't seem to do people very well! I've not been a member very long and just by participating here I feel my photography has improved in leaps and bounds. This isn't a nit-picking or pixel-peeping forum, just one where people with a liking for photography in the widest sense can share and have a bit of fun. The Weekly 'Contests" are a great way to get us all to try new things and to see how a single theme can have many different interpretations.

Except this week when @TheBadGuy thought he would torture us all! :D
