the purpose of the vibrate button is so that ur phone wont go off in class or during work or whatever right..so if i switch it to vibrate it should vibrate, but when i switch it back the phone is still vibrating...

does it vibrate no matter which way you tick it? which way is "off" and which way is "on" ?

You can turn this on/off from the settings -> Sounds. In default it vibrates in both modes.

It's not a 'vibrate button' but rather a 'silent switch'. That is if we're both talking about the switch on the side of the phone.

You flip it back and forth to turn sound either off or on. To turn the vibrate function off or on you go into settings/sounds (as already said).

I use that switch as a last minute thing in case I need to quickly silence my phone. Normally I just hold down the volume rocker or go into settings to silence it because I'm kinda paranoid about wearing out the silence switch. I've heard too many stories about people getting loose silence switches.

the stories always seem to end with a phone replacement though
so not a big deal
