Go this $13 clear smoke polycarb back in today and it fits the smartcover very well. It is a very tight snap on back. It sits below the face of the ipad so the smartcover still sits on the face as well. I like this much better than TPU - downside is it will scratch in 6-8 months of use, but for $13 bucks not important to me, I'll order another. Another downside is bottom is completely open near speakers.

I just got my replacement one today, even after I cancelled and was refunded. I gotta say, they're CS is pretty good, but the case is even better. Definitely worth it as a back protector that is Smart Cover compatible. A definite recommend if you need a back cover.
