Rovio lays off 110 people as Angry Birds hype fades.

Rovio has confirmed that 110 people will lose their jobs as the Angry Birds maker also shuts down its game-development studio in Tampere. The layoffs, first announced in October, amount to about 14 percent of the company's workforce.

The beginning of the end for these guys? Or perhaps a whole new beginning now Angry Birds has been successfully milked to stagnation?

I can't say that I'm surprised. I'd say the candy crush folks face the same fate. Get a great game, ride it till people are sick of it, and then they have nothing else to replace it.

Hmmm not surprised. I actually though Bad Piggies was a more interesting game, but they did seem stuck on the "fling bird at pigs" mechanic for too long. Not sure if there racing and RPG type game took off or not-they looked like pure freemium crud. I guess making cartoons and the like is the way ahead, perhaps.

King Digital deserves it, that’s horrible company, that’s used some insane tactics to prevent small developers from being competitive.

You mean, suing them because they had the word candy in the title, or trying to trademark the word candy. Yeah, I agree.

With some luck hopefully this will happen.
