Hi
So I’m posting this in the iPhone section but I guess it’s the same with iPad.

My workphone is an iPhone and I’ve made some videos with it. I have photos as well and I’ve transferred them to my computer ( Windows ). My problem is that I want to keep the date of the videos, but when I transfer them to my pc and save them, the date changes to the date of the day I save them. When I do the same with photos it keeps the original date ( metadata ).
Why doesn’t it keep the metadata for videos and is there a trick or software, I can use to keep the original date?

Hi
So there’s not 1 Apple braniac who know’s the answer?
Shocked to my core... :eek::oops:

Well, you have to “share” the videos to Apple’s Files app first (e.g. create/use a folder within “On My iPhone”).
If you long press the video file in the Files app, this kind of info window comes up:

Then you transfer the videos from there to your PC via e.g. a shared folder, SendAnywhere or Snapdrop etc.. The above info should be preserved.

EDIT: just did a quick check, the “created”-date will be changed when copied, “modified” will remain untouched.

Hi
Thanks for replying but it’s a little to technical for me, I’m not tech-savvy :confused:.
It’s annoying that it’s not the same with videos as with photos, that’s on Apple and for them to fix.
I will stick with my original plan, film small parts of each video with my iPad, then I will have the date.
