So I finally upgraded from High Sierra on my 2016 MBP to Big Sur on a new M1 Mac mini. Lots of small changes to get used to, one of which not having iTunes with a built in App Store. I have approximately 20GB worth of .ipa apps on my hard drive now. Are these necessary to keep or should I now delete them?

I would use Retroactive to install iTunes on Big Sur.

You won't regret it.
Retroactive basically adds back in the old iTunes features, correct? Does that add back the App Store and ability to sync apps across devices? If I don't go that route, is there a need to keep the ipa files on my hard drive?

Depends which version of iTunes you choose from the install

There is one available in there with apps, I have no personal experience as I chose 12.9

I would keep them as you can install them later on if they are removed from the app store.
