i'm a recent convert over to iOS (iPhone 12 Pro).
1 thing i'm struggling to understand/resolve is downloading free apps from the apps store.

whenever i click on "get" it constantly asks me for my appleid password - why? the app is free?

is there a way to avoid this?
i understand asking for it for paid apps, but free apps seems a bit overkill.

Yeah, annoying. You are "purchasing", so making sure, even if free.

Do you have Face ID setup for purchases in App Store? Settings > Face ID & Passcode, "iTunes & App Store" toggled on, to not make you actually enter the password.

And there is Settings > your Apple ID at top > Media & Purchases > Password Settings. There is a "Free downloads Require Password" option: make sure off.

To be safe, tap on "Require after 15 minutes", so that if you are getting multiple apps within a 15 minute window, should not get prompted.

I rarely get apps, so, time between "purchases" have always elapsed, and get prompted for biometrics.
