How much would it all cost to get a new 3gs, and cancel the att contract but still keep the phone?

iPhone 3GS=$199
One month service=$79
Activation=$36
Contract end=$170

In total, about $300+cost of phone.

EDIT: Unless I'm missing something, Jessica, care to explain how you got $675?

To buy a new iPhone 3GS without contract is $699. If you mean that you want to buy it, keep it for a month, cancel service, and pay the termination charge, then that would be:

$299 for 32 GB iPhone 3GS
$36 activation
$82 for 31 days of service
$170 early termination fee
-----
$587

Don't forget, it's not 1 month of service. They bill you until the end of your cycle, that makes it about 1 1/2 to 2 months. So it turns out to be even with buying it at full retail.

I'm sure the analysts at AT&T are not dumb, and figured out what they had to do to recoup the costs.

Just buy one at full retail, and save yourself the trouble.

Plus tax, so its going to vary by state. And like someone said don't forget the billing cycle part. I think its better to go get it without a contract. If you want to avoid extra charges.
