I ordered what I thought was the iPad Pro 2020 from bestbuy. I went to do curbside pickup and when I got home I realized I bought the 2018 pro Best Buy doesn’t have any 2020 in stock

What do you think should I keep the 18 or return it and wait for the 20 ?

this will be used for video editing and media consumption this is my first iPad

How much did you pay and which version did you get?

For video editing I would return for the 2020 model. The extra 2GB will come in handy unless you got a very good deal on this one.

I got the att version 256 for $1000

Based on what I know the 2020 Pro version has added 2 GB more RAM and has LIDAR. I am not sure that LIDAR is that needed for video editing (or in general to be honest) so for me it comes down to the increased RAM (and how much this translates to better performance) and the price.

I have 6th gen iPad (2 GB RAM) and just recently got 2018 11 inch Pro (4 GB RAM). Honestly there is slight difference in terms of the apps/tabs reload (because more RAM) but it still freezes sometimes and it still reloads. It is not about the RAM, iPadOS 13 just sucks big time when it comes to memory management. I personally would not buy 2020 iPad Pro unless I really see proof that the 6GB RAM make difference compared to the 2018 pro and it should be tangible difference because trust me between the 6th gen and the pro it is not.

Return it and wait for the iPad Pro 2020 to become available.

For video editing you may benefit from the extra 2gb of RAM, if nothing else you’ve probably overpaid though. There’s plenty of deals on 2018 models right now. I just got one for 25% less than the equivalent 2020 model.

Best Buy is showing the cellular 265 11 inch 2018 model on sale now for 949. You might see if they will honor that price since you just bought it. I think they will. That's not a bad price for cellular version.

The price discount for the 2018 version is maybe about $100, not too drastic. I would either return it and wait for a 2020, to get best bang for your buck. OR, If you’re open to a used model, you can find a used 2018 for a much steeper discount.

You can get an Apple refurbished 2018 11” cellular 256GB for less than $850 from what I can remember. Definitely return the one you have, but if I were you I’d keep an eye out for a refurbished model off the Apple website.

keep it. Say the wrong item arrived. They will ship you out a new 2020 iPad Pro no charge.

Oddly I did the same thing. The device wasn’t very clearly marked unless you were familiar with the specific model number and such. I mean I built my config and had to wait a couple weeks too, so dumb. There was no other listing for the config I bought unless I would have ordered the carrier model with monthly payments.

I didn’t realize until I opened it and saw the camera.

Mine is definitely going back.

Do you have the option of using the military or student apple sites? I got the 2020 wifi for $10 less than best buy's sale price on the 2018 version cuz of the 10% discount (AND i got the 3% apple card cash back)
