I am processing a bunch of audio files in iTunes in my iPod account on my 10.4.6 Intel iMac, and want to log back into my main user account to use my email program etc. without disrupting the conversion process going on in the iPod account. Is there a way to do this in OS X?

I found the answer to my own question when I stumbled upon "Fast User Switching", an option that works like a charm.

For anybody who has read this thread because they are curious, it can be Fast User Switching can be set by opening System Preferences, Accounts, and selecting Login Option in the column on the left beneath the Account Names.

System Preferences -> Accounts -> Login Options -> Check Enable Fast User Switching. (I prefer it at View as Icon ;))

Thanks, I was just posting as you posted the correct answer. I didn't know about "View As Icon" though. Cheers!
