I removed a debit card from Apple Pay / the Wallet. Now, when I go in to add a new card, it shows the deleted one first, as it's somehow remembered it, and I must choose to "add a different card." I don't use this deleted card elsewhere, and I don't want Apple to remember it (I'm closing the account soon).

Does anyone know how to fully remove/delete it from Apple Pay and stop it from showing up when I add new cards? Thanks!

This has been annoying me since the beginning of Apple Pay.

This has been annoying me since the beginning of Apple Pay.

This has also been my experience.

I had several cards that were 'stuck' and they never dropped off - even after a year or more. The only way I could get rid of them was to completely wipe the iPhone and re-install iOS. That took ages of course.
