Keep Wifi Off on Boot from External Drive?

I have a 2011 MacBook Air that is running 10.8. I have course software on it that will expire if I turn the wifi on. My plan is to clone my MBA onto an external drive and boot from it when I need to access the course materials. How would I go about to make sure that the wifi does not turn on when I boot from the drive?

For the first boot to the external, turn off your router so it can't auto login. Then boot to the external and go to the Network pane in System Prefs and remove the wifi as an interface by selecting it and clicking the minus at the bottom and save that settings. That should stop any boot to that drive from having any wifi access at all.

Yes. If you click the plus you will see the wifi as an option to add it back.
