iPhone 3G running iOS 4.2.1 and jailbroken... I know that WiFi stays on when plugged in or if cellular data is turned off. I want it to stay on all the time. I've heard that Insomnia doesn't work anymore. Turning off cellular data means I can't send or receive MMS messages.

I'm using home control software and I want to be able to ping my phone every so often. If ping responds the system knows I'm home - if not, it goes into away mode. So to make this work, I need the WiFi always active.

Just download Prevent sleep on Cydia

Just installed Prevent Sleep and so far it seems to be working great! Thanks! I hadn't tried Insomnia, as I had seen several recent messages saying it had issues.

Doesn't leaving wifi on when sleeping murder your battery? It always did for me when I used insomnia.

It has a noticeable effect, for sure.

Your welcome I used to always use insomnia but hated the status bar icon then I found Prevent Sleep

Keep Wifi on in sleep mode for non-jailbroken devices

Is it possible for non jail-broken devices to keep wifi on even in sleep mode?
