Keeping both 12.9” and 10.5” ?

As per title I have purchased both the two 12.9” iPad Pro’s and one 10.5”. One of the 12.9” is for my disabled child which I purchased as a replacement for her iPad Pro 12.9 1st Gen which I sold for £550. I also replaced my iPad Pro 1st 12.9 Wifi/Cell for £650 to help towards the costs of replacement. I couldn’t help but order the 10.5” to try in case I preferred its size. I am school teacher and I use the 12.9” whilst I’m out and about as well as using it during my professional tutoring.
However, I always use the iPad in bed and the 10.5” is perfect for that. I can afford to keep them both but was hoping to return one of them to save the costs. I just love them BOTH!!

Is anyone else in the same boat?

P.S. I am in awe of Space Grey (both) since all my previous iPads have been White!

I previously had the 12.9 & 9.7 Pros as well as the mini 4. I sort of justified keeping all three since the mini 4 stayed in my works laptop bag and was my travel companion while the 9.7 was my usual day to day device. I picked up a 12.9 second hand just to try it out and ended up keeping it as the size was great for more serious work and media consumption.
I bought the new 12.9 and 10.5 Pros in a higher capacity with the intention to downsize to 2 devices. As much as I love the portability of the mini 4, the smaller screen size started to bother me on a recent trip to the US so I'll use the 10.5 as my main day to day device and travel companion while the 12.9 will stay at home for more serious productivity and photo editing as well as media consumption. The old 12.9 and mini 4 are being sold off with the 9.7 going to the wife.

I am as well. Have both and the mini. All different use cases and use all three everyday. I also feel guilty about having both the new ones but I use them enough where I keep justifying it to myself. Lol.

I could happily have both as they serve different purposes (12.9 stationary, 10.5 mobile), but it just seems like a bit of a waste since the 10.5 serves both best.

If the 10.5 could display 2 full sized apps side by side then I would have considered only the 10.5 but that is one of the reasons I go with both.

Fair enough. It's not more so about the money to me, but I just don't have the need for such a set up. Would love it though.

Yup, having multiple iPads can be overkill for many but worth it if you can justify it. The 12.9 is just too big for me to use as my daily driver but no other iPad can touch it when it comes to sitting at a table editing documents or photos and in the evening watching video content. It doesn't leave the house but is my go to device for such usage cases - I used it solely for working through emails, spreadsheets and documents when planning our wedding which I wouldn't have done on a smaller iPad.
The 10.5 is great for more mobile use and quick look ups in the house.

I just got the 10.5 and am still hanging on to the 9.7 Pro... Originally I was going to sell the 9.7; however, for what I am seeing I can get for it, I may hang on to it.

I know you asked about the 12.9 and the 10.5; however, just thought I would chime in on keeping the 9.7 and the 10.5.

Yep. Could prob live with just 10.5 (mobile device) but love the spatious 12.9 screen as a 'main' home computer - from time to time doing side by side or just watching something on it whilst using the 10.5 for other stuff. Still got 12 days but I'll very likely just sell the old devices as planned and keep both new ones. No intention to upgrade the 12.9 for 4 years if ever and 2 years minimum for the 10.5.

I ordered both the 10.5" and 12.9" to see which one I like more. The 12.9" has the weight as the biggest con, but I don't like the tiny bezels on the 10.5" at least grip wise when holding.

The smart keyboard, while very comfortable for me to use / type on, is a bit disappointing when coming from the ease of a Smart Cover (on the Air 2). I'm sure I'll get used to it eventually, but as of now, I occasionally have been slamming the keyboard on the desk by accident when going from Watch mode to Cover mode.

Keep both. I recently purchased the 10.5 yet can't get myself to get rid of the Air and the Air 2 (the first Air is jailbroken). I am not sure what I will do with them but perhaps use while traveling? I don't know- just do know I want to keep them.

I remember when my mom got the first iPad and this was before I was sold on the idea. I just felt like it was a giant iPod touch (which I guess it kind of still is) but I couldn't see the use. Ive been iPad geeked ever since I got the gen 2. Haha

I have both for now for evaluation. I am going from the first gen 12.9 pro and probably will just keep the new 12.9. The compactness, weight and handling of the 10.5 is great but greater immersion from watching videos or playing games is where the bigger focus needs to be to tell the truth cause I would miss that dearly.

Lol. We have more iPads in the house than people. Primarily from me holding on to select models for older iOS versions and apps.

I currently have a first gen iPad Pro 12.9 and iPad Air 2 and fully intend on getting the newer 12.9 and new 10.5 as direct replacements for both and do not for a second feel the need to ask myself "am I doing the right thing"?
As far as the 12.9 goes the extra storage space, much better screen and refresh rate is enough.
The 10.5 being lighter than the 12.9 will be my out and about device.
Both will be connected to keyboards thus making them 13" and 11" laptops in a way.
However, the real reason for using the 12.9 more over the 10.5 will be with what iOS 11 will give.
Using iOS 11 on the 12.9" is going to improve my file handling and creativity to a new level.
Drag & Drop with better interactivity between apps will make for me the 12.9 much much better than the 10.5 no worries.

I think that's the beauty of the iPads: No matter which size we choose we know full well it will serve it's purpose perfectly. My greatest expectation though will be in how iOS 11 will 'finally' move the iPad from being a large phone to a greatly improved work horse..... and with 512GB storage under the hood it will be a lot of fun to boot.

I purchased both the 12.9 and 10.5 in 512gb configurations to see which one I wanted to replace my original 12.9. I am probably going to be keeping them both. I use the 12.9 to create all of my artwork and will now use the 10.5 to watch the many art tutorials I have as well as everyday uses. I traveled with my original 12.9 so that doesn't bother me with the new one. Even though I will load them both with the same apps, pictures etc. they will serve different purposes.

512 GB of Storage was a huge leap for Apple. So much for worrying if you have enough room for applications and media. Steep price point for the extra storage, but worth it for those who require the additional space.
