Keeping existing mobile number..but using temporary one? (uk)

Hi all

I am currently about to set up my iPhone (UK). I'm on vodafone at the moment and am awaiting a PAC code... is it possible to select to have a new number during the set up process, and then transfer my number at a later date when i get my pac code from vodafone sometime next week?

Any advice would be really appreciated!

Anyone? I don't want to set it up until I know for sure!

Yes I just did that, i signed up as a "new" O2 customer and got my PAC code from Vodafone about a week later. After calling O2 the transfer process was then scheduled for about 5 days ahead and worked successfully (though both phones were out of action for about 6 hours).

or you could just wait for the pac code from vodafone
it would be easier...
