Keeping MBPro Clean.

I have a 17" MacBook Pro C2D with Glossy Display. My main issue with it is keeping my fingerprints off of it, both on the display and the Casing. Windex causes a lot of streaking, what do you do to keep your MBP and probably Aluminum Powerbooks Clean, and looking like new?

Don't use Windex on an LCD. Windex contains ammonia that may 'degrade' the screen.

I use Monster Screen Cleaner. Yeah, it's really expensive (retails for $30CAD), but I used to work at Best Buy so I got it for about $12. It cleans the screen and case really well.

The key to the Monster stuff is the fact that it's more of a gel than a fluid liquid. That means that it won't leak into the display housing, whereas Windex might, which would cause a huge heap of trouble.

The Monster stuff also comes with a nice cloth. It's key to use a lint-free cloth when cleaning an LCD, as paper towels may contain wood fibres that will likely scratch your LCD over time.

Just my $0.02 (Canadian funds, so that's about $0.002 USD) :)
 
Lightly dampened cloth or a microfiber cloth (glasses cloth) usually does just the trick for me.
 
iKlear / KlearScreen for screen, and everything else (screen first, if you're gonna use a single-use for all)
 
Water—nature's greatest solvent. A damp, lint-free cloth (like a glasses-cleaning cloth) does the trick every time.
 
I tried the LCD cleaner they sell at Wally-World, but it tends to streak the glossy MBP. Come to think of it, it never worked well on my matte LCD screen at home. I think I'll pick up some Monster cleaner too.
 
I use iKlear napkins. There's a wet one to clean off the fingerprints and then a dry one to polish it. Works well on the aluminium and the keyboard as well on my PB G4 Al.
Water does it as well on a microfiber cloth. Get one from a camera shop.
Windex is a no no. Can seriously damage your screen. Should be ok on the aluminium and keyboard, but use in moderation.
 
For cleaning LCD screens iKlear is complete rubbish, I bought it in the hopes it would be as good as what many people here have said. Sad to say it streaks like a b*stard even on a cold screen. Their wet wipes are no different either. Suffice to say it does an ok job at cleaning the case of my MBP however.

I'd stick to a lightly damp (bottled/filtered water) microfiber cloth.

DO NOT USE Windex! it damages the anti-reflective coating of displays.
 
hey, I heard from someone that a mixture of rubbing alcohol and water (about 50/50 he said) works well for computer screens. I've used it once or twice, but is it a safe solution for my pure, innocent MacBook?! :(
 
The water and soft cloth wasn't doing it for me just leaving a streaky film that never wiped off.

Bought iklear since it used a chamois instead of the Monster brand which just looked like it used a terry-towel type cloth. Good choice the iklear brought it back to like new. The only trick was really buffing the screen. Litterly sitting there for about a minute and a half. But it looks like new.

By the way I have the MBP with glossy screen.

I use the same thing and it's amazing. The microfiber cloth is a godsend to any mac user. ESPECIALLY if you have a BlackBook.
 
I don't know how you guys can do it with water. I find with my screen over the course of time a lot of dust (read: Dead skin) gets on there no matter what I do. Incidentally there are oils attached to dust, which means I can't just get it off with water and a lint-free cloth.

I use eye-glass cleaner (just some generic stuff I got with my eyeglasses) and a lint-free micro fibre cloth (also used to clean glasses).

I don't spray the liquid on the screen but instead spray it onto the cloth and clean specific portions that are dirty (i never touch my screen.. and don't let people touch my screen either). Then I use a lint free cloth to take the dust off. Afterwards it is pretty clean.

lol...u can try keeping finger prints off of the
display screen by not touching it. im pretty
sure that'll work. hah.

and iClean by Monster works great. a lot of
apple stores recommend using that to clean
glossy screens. as for the casing, a soft
cloth and some water does the trick.
 
simply do not touch the screen, that's what I do, so all I have to do is just to wipe dust off.

but it hurts when others poking it all of a sudden that you can't even prevent it from happening:(
