Keeping my IP with DHCP

I have several computers on an AirPort network (internet connection is PPPoE DSL), and I need to keep one set to a certain IP address for port forwarding reasons. Only problem is, if I set that computer to DHCP with manual IP address, I lose my internet connection. Is there any way around this?

Well, i don't know how it works on a mac, but on my PC server i did the following:

AE/BS
IP 10.0.1.1
SN 255.255.255.0

Some workstations have DHCP

And the server has

IP 10.0.1.240
SN 255.255.255.0
GW 10.0.1.1

I used 10.0.1.240 because the BS hands out IP addresses in numeral order.. so, first 10.0.1.2, then 10.0.1.3 etc. So, i figure i'd never own 238 computers.
It's feasable (??) that you -or- chose an IP which was outside of the range given at your subnetmask (SN) -or- the static IP was in a whole different range.

I've had nothing but trouble with the DHCP/manual IP settings. I had to set it to complete manual control (no DHCP) to get it working.

Set it completely to manual. It's not the end of the world, you can have a Manual IP in a dhcp network.

Some suggestions/notes...

1. Turn off all your other computers/macs so that you don't use an ip already in the network.
2. Set up the Mac with the IP you want to use (if you can, make sure that you set ur DHCP server/router to start giving out addresses after that one for example if you use 192.168.1.100 then tell the dhcp to start with 101.
3. Enter the DNS addresses for your ISP into the DHCP box on your Mac (this will let you surf the net).
4. Apply the settings, test your connections.
5. start the rest of your computers/macs
