I would think this is an easy issue to remedy but for some reason it is escaping me. Brand new MBP and I'm really liking it. But I walk away for a few minutes and when I walk back it's gone dark and is locked. I set up the fingerprint unlock when I set it up so I can get it back quickly but I am wondering if there is a way to keep it awake longer?

Thanks. I found an article on Google yesterday that kept saying click on Energy Saver in System Preferences and I could not find it. This article shows something different and it seems to work.

Interesting sounding app. Seems pretty technical to me. See much need for this for the casual user who does primarily browsing and some casual photo editing?

Maybe I'm not understanding the purpose of your original post. I assume you've tried changing the settings in Preferences (under Battery, formerly called Energy Saver) for how long to keep the display on when on battery and plugged in? By default it's set to a few minutes, but you have the option to set it to hours or never.

I find Amphetamine useful for times I want to temporarily override my preferences setting without actually changing the preferences settings. This is usually for processes that take a while and I'm stepping away from the Mac- like transcoding, code testing, large data transfers, or long downloads. I find that often if I don't keep the system awake with Amphetamine, when sleep kicks in it interrupts or fails whatever process(es) I was running.

What is the main behavior you want to change? There are several different parameters that can be controlled:
1. The time the screensaver starts
2. The time the display goes off
3. The time the Mac goes to sleep (shuts off all/most functionality) after inactivity
4. If the passcode/TouchID is always required after waking it up or only after a custom period of inactivity/sleep. If set to e.a. 1 hour, when the Mac starts to sleep you have 1 hour to simply wake it with any key and can just continue to work - no passcode required.
(in recent OS without a trick, display off and sleep can‘t be controlled separately anymore)

With me and computers so shocker here. I did go to Preferences and then Battery based on another rec here. It seems to be doing what I need. I kept looking for Energy Saver based on what was apparently an outdated Google article. I'll hole off on Amphetamine for now to see of this takes care of it.
