Everytime I open my macbook, this file “vlc-3.0.18-intel64.dmg” keeps on downloading. After a few hours i get 8-9 such files!
Does anyone know why this is happening?

Looks like the latest VLC installer.

Why do you way it keeps on downloading? Do you mean that it keeps mounting? Screen shot helps.

If you have VLC installed, disable “Automatically check for updates” (although I think that just checks for updates, without downloading them).

If you use a cloud storage service, make sure it’s not downloading from there. Like in this case https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/macos-keep-recreating-mov-file-after-i-delete-it.2376492/

The worst case, it might be malware “Hackers push malware via Google search ads for VLC, 7-Zip, Ccleaner” https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/ne...via-google-search-ads-for-vlc-7-zip-ccleaner/
