Hi,
I hope someone can help with this strange issue l'm having with my Mac Pro (1,1) with Snow Leopard installed.
The Mac boots up fine but l want to wipe the hard drive and reinstall the OS. I have both the original install discs and a Leopard install disc.
The problem is that when l put in either of those discs and then restart the Mac to install the OS l get the a grey screen asking me to restart the Mac with the following kernal panic information displayed:
panic(cpu 0 caller 0x003A92A1): Unable to find driver for this platform: "ACPI".
I have made a bootable USB stick but when l choose to use this the same problem happens. Annoyingly l can't get anywhere near the install process so l can't do anything like installing the OS on a different partition for example.
I have spent a long time searching round the net to find a solution but nothing seems to work.
Does anyone have any idea why this would be happening and a possible solution?
Here is a dump from the .panic file, contains the Mac spec at the bottom:
