The kernel panics and much slower boot time started last week. At that time I had Catalina as my OS.

I have read many discussions and have followed many of the suggestions including resetting NVRAM, safe boots, doing hardware check and reinstalling the OS using recovery, turning off Power Nap, I have run Disk Utility Repair Disk which does not find anything. I've also removed login items for my user in system preferences. I went through troubleshooting and ultimately felt that upgrading to Monterey might fix things. It did not. Same kernel panic and much slower boot times after the upgrade.I get notified that my Mac was restarted when waking my MacBook Air from sleep.

The kernel panics do not seem to occur if I shut down the computer and restart.
The kernel panics do not occur after a Safe Boot.

I have included a typical log from a kernel panic and to my untrained eye it is nearly the same as the kernel panic that I got under Catalina.
What sticks out to me is this:

panic(cpu 0 caller 0xffffff800e8c4e3a): Sleep transition timed out after 180 seconds while calling power state change callbacks. Suspected bundle: com.apple.driver.AppleIntelBDWGraphicsFramebuffer. Thread 0x5627.
Failure code:: 0x00000000 00000014

Is there anything else I can provide that might help pin this down? Or suggestions on what else to check?

If you restored the OS and started fresh, and still are having the same issues, I think it's a hardware issue. Which at that point might be better to get a new machine than to spend hundreds to fix it.

My 2020 13" Intel MBP would get kernel panics almost every time it went to sleep. I happened suddenly one day about 2 months ago and wouldn't stop. This was on Big Sur. I've upgraded to Monterey 2 weeks ago and it stopped. But I'm afraid it will start doing it again. I'm thinking about trading it in while I can and while it still has some value and getting a 13" M1 MBP or 14" MBP.

This really does suck though cause these machines are so expensive.

Kernel Panics are usually related to either Hardware failures or Third Party Software that has Kernel Extensions installed.

Doing a Wipe and Clean installation and then Do Not use Migration Assist except to maybe bring back the User Account Only.

Issues that may exist on the TM Backups when issues existed will be migrated to the New Installation

Other ideas:

  • Create a new, test User Account and see if the issue persists when logged into that. I'd advise disabling "Automatic login" for your current account…if that's on.
  • Run Apple Diagnostics: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202731

You didn't really say if your "reinstalling the OS" was an erase and install or just an reinstall to your existing system.

Also, you didn't mention if you have an original Apple SSD in there or 3rd party..(you show 500TB above). I'm assuming you meant 500Gb.. If you have a 3rd party drive and adapter, and if you still have original drive, reinstall original drive with clean install of MacOS and see if you still have issues. If not, then it's your drive install setup..
