Hey Everyone,

I have been getting frequent Kernel Panics on my machine. I ONLY experience these Panic Shutdowns when I walk away from my machine and it is simply idling. With the exception of a few small Apps running, but nothing intensive like video editing processes.

iMac Specs

What I have tried so far
1) Complete wipe of the hard drive and fresh install of Catalina.

2) I believed I might have been experiencing an issue from an error when my iMac goes to sleep. So, I entered this command into the terminal.

sudo pmset -a standby 0

If anyone could help me with my issue it would be greatly appreciated! This issue is tedious and annoying considering I often need to restart the machine after these crashes occur. However, when I am using it for work the machine performs wonderfully. I have no understanding of what the Panic Reports are telling me. They are listed below.

Also - although I doubt its causing the kernel panics - you could check if your 2x RAM cards are in the right slots for dual channel operation? I thought they were not normally showing as diagonals on the diagram is that’s the case.

You RAM isn't set in the correct slots, for beginning.

And the kernel panics seems to come from internal NVME storage. Is it the stock NVME drive ?

It seems related to hibernation. Would also try the command
sudo pmset -a hibernatemode 25 standby 0

Hey Everyone,

I have been getting frequent Kernel Panics on my machine. I ONLY experience these Panic Shutdowns when I walk away from my machine and it is simply idling. With the exception of a few small Apps running, but nothing intensive like video editing processes.
OWC has a document which covers this: https://eshop.macsales.com/Service/Knowledgebase/Article/26/785/NVMe-SSDs-Standby-Mode-Issue
Edit: the panic in the above document isn't exactly the same, so while the suggestions about standby are good, they may not be the only problem here. I have never had good luck with OWC storage.

What is the correct slots for my RAM sticks?

Thanks, I will try that out. I did swapped the stock NVME with the Aura Pro and removed SATA Drive entirely.

I am experiencing this as well, and I also have an OWC "Auro Pro" SSD. I tried the Terminal command mentioned in the support document, but the kernel panics continue.

Also, my kernel panics typically occur when I am actively using my iMac. After so many kernel panics, the Aura Pro X2 finally became corrupted and unrepairable with Disk Utility, so I did a wipe this weekend. Still panicking! :)

Damn, that's awful! But thanks for letting me know.... I will do a better job backing up my machine regularly.

I did another terminal command last week. I do not experience the same exact crash during idle.
sudo pmset -a hibernatemode 25 standby 0

Instead of crashing, restarting, and displaying the kernel panic ...I experience a delayed display wake up time (few seconds) followed by an unexplainable grey screen for a brief moment.

Wish I did know that these Aura's have a bad reputation. I thought I was purchasing the best.....
