Kernel panic - how do I read this and fix it?

I'm on an upgraded mac pro 1,1 on os10.6.8 when running pro tools 10 with uad-2 satellite firewire on an sonnet firewire 800 bus, and ssl duende classic on built in firewire 400 bus I have recently been getting kernel panics. I see you have upgraded to dual Quad Core CPUs with out upgrading the firmware to 2,1 its recommended you do this as without it 10.6.8 is known to kernel panic without it. failing that (ie you upgraded and its still panicking) it looks like one of your GPUs are to blame as its drivers are in the back trace

Thanks that's great. The person who owned the mac before me did the upgrade - so how do I upgrade the firmware to 2,1?

Do you mean that if I still get panics after upgrading firmware then it could be GPUs (is that graphics / video card? As that was recently replaced.

I have been running mac for a while without many problems, but over last few days ive been working on bigger sessions using more cpu etc, so would that be why the firmware only just started causing regular issues?

Looks like your Graphics cards are to blame in this case as thats the drivers are in back trace. try another graphics card see if that solves your issue (in other good news looks like you properly upgraded to the Mac Pro 2,1 firmware and your CPUs are now properly recognised)

I did have a new graphics card put in just a couple of months ago - so is there anything else that's likely to fix (drivers / settings ets) or is it definitely pointing to failing graphics card?

The current card is a ATI Radeon HD4870 (512mb) if I have to get a new card I would want to get a brand new one as I had to get this one of ebay before, what card would work as a replacement that you can buy as new as I have not been able to find the ATI one new.

Right, I think I have worked out what the problem may be. Now I have sorted the country firmware update the kernel panics are now only happening once I've been working on a large pro tools audio session for about 2+ hours. One once the mac and room have got really hot. The kernel panic is still showing the graphics card in the backtrace so I think the problem is the graphics card overheating. How can I address this issue for when I'm working on large sessions. Is there fans I can add to cool graphics card? Or some kind of cooling program to get mac running cooler?
