Hi,

I have a problem with my Mac Pro 5.1 (2010). It happens that sometimes, 2 or 3 times in a month, I get a Kernel Panic. Sometimes I'm using Adobe Premiere, sometimes only Safari...
I had collected many Kernel Report, I paste here the last one.
There is someone that could help me, please?

A bit off the wall here, but is your Crucial MX300 firmware up to date? I've found Crucial SSDs to be rather problematic in the past and certainly able to cause kernel panics/BSODs. Definitely try the latest firmware if it isn't running version M0CR060.
Your BX300 doesn't have an update so should be ok.

From the 2nd set of logs though it does look like an NVIDIA driver issue.
Can you narrow down which app was running and what you were doing at the time?

Oh, and I'd ditch AdGuard and get uBlock Origin instead. Far superior IMO and free.

Why you are using 10.13.2 yet?

Your Mac Pro still has the first firmware for High Sierra, MP51.0084.B00. The current one on 10.13.6 Mac App Store full installer is MP51.0089.B00 and the most recent is 138.0.0.0.0 on Mojave DP7/PB6.

Oh, nice spot @tsialex. 10.13.2 is a horror show of an OS. We had a ton of problems running Adobe CS, particularly Premiere, on it on the Macs at work. Horrible SMB problems too.

OP, update to 10.13.6 as mentioned and make sure you update the firmware too. 0089 at the minimum I'd say.

If your GPU has Mac EFI/flashed one, you can upgrade the firmware running the Mac App Store 10.13.6 High Sierra full installer. I can't tell if have EFI or not just looking the log. If not, you have to install the original GPU for your Mac Pro (HD5770/HD5870).

I'm now with 10.13.5. You maybe read the second Report I posted, that is from "Mon Apr 16 14:31:27 2018".

Read my previous message, upgrade to 10.13.6 with software updates, then download the full Mac App Store 10.13.6 High Sierra installer and upgrade your BootROM from MP51.0084.B00 to MP51.0089.B00, at least.

That's pretty interesting, I'll check the SSD firmware!

So, I did the update but I'm still on MP51.0084.B00. To get the new one I have to re-install the System? Now I downloaded the full installer from installinstallmacos.py, what I have to do? I don't wont to lose all my application....
btw I update the firmware of the SSD, now I have M0CR060. I hope this help!

Thanks!

You need a Mac EFI GPU to upgrade the firmware with High Sierra. Your GTX 1080 is a flashed one? With Mojave you can bypass that.

With Mojave installer, just open the app, it will ask to shutdown on programming mode - just do as the screen says. No need to reinstall. Just use the installer to upgrade your firmware than close it when reboots and open the installer app again.

You have the latest Mojave installer? Great! You now need to have an EFI capable card with Metal compatibility. That means an eVGA GTX680, or RX480/RX560/RX580 or 7870/7950. I may have missed some!

Update to High Sierra 10.13.6 and then run the Mojave installer.
It will then prompt to shut down your Mac. Hit the shutdown button onscreen and it'll shut down. Now hold the power button until you hear a beep (after the flashing power light), and then let go. Your DVD drive will open and the firmware will flash. DO NOT interrupt the process. It takes time.
Let your Mac reboot and you will be on the latest and greatest firmware.

Nvidia GTX 1080 on the log.

Yeah, but even if flashed I'm not sure it will allow him to installed the Mojave firmware.
My 1080 wasn't able to when I tried yesterday, but admittedly it isn't flashed and I didn't have the driver installed. I was using ARD to access it.
Perhaps a 1080 with driver would be detected by the Mojave installer as being a Metal card and proceed with the firmware prompt. It's definitely not on Apple's list however.

I can't say for sure too, we need to test that.

Thank you guys! I have a 1080 but also the original ATI. So I did all the process with the 10.03.06 and finally I have the new boot version MP51.0089.B00. I hope that this help with my problem. I'm a video editor freelance, I work with this machine and is not nice when the mac restart suddenly!

Most of the time I'm with premiere or After effects. Only once happened with safari only.

If you have more KPs, test your RAM with ASD - reinstall your original GPU to do that.

Guys you helped me so much that I would like to tell you another problem that I tried and tried to solve but without success: many times when I shut down the Mac Pro he restart. Thats very annoying because sometimes I use Teamviewer and I lost the connection (and the mac is still on, for days) or in case I have to run away but I have to wait the second reboot...any idea?
