I am having some issues with a kernel panic. The kernel panic crashes my MBP without any warning. I am currently using a brand new, fresh install of OS X 10.11.1, after a secure wipe of the hard drive. Nothing is plugged into the USBs, and I had only a couple of apps (safari, system preferences) open when this last kernel panic occurred.

Mid 2010 15" MBP with all original parts, except upgraded 8gb ddr3 ram, installed within weeks of original purchase.

Here's the kernel panic message that I don't understand:

It looks like a Nvidia GPU problem. The only thing to do is to have Apple test and verify a Nvidia GPU problem then replace the logic board if there is a problem found. The bad news is that the extended Apple video repair program for your model MBP ended Feb 2015. Some people have still had some success with getting Apple to do the repair for free, YMMV.

Thanks! I'll give it my best shot. I wish Apple would inform it's product owners regarding recalls. :'( I'll let you know if it confirmed to be the GPU

They do inform owners - it is on their website and this news has been on various new websites for years and bought up in multiple discussions on this forum and others.
