Keyboard and Mouse question for new IMac.

I wanted to buy a new Mac Pro, but it was pointed out that it was way more than I needed to process digital photos. Also, the price is over the top. I am now considering the IMac; one of the 27" models.

My question is: Can I not use the wireless keyboard and mouse? Can I use the same keyboard and mouse from my G5? Can I plug them into one of the USB ports.

My external HD is a Firewire 400 connection. Will this work in the one FW 800 port on the IMac?

My reason for upgrading from my G5 is that Photoshop Elements 8 will not work on my G5. PE 8 has some features I would like to have.

Yeah you can use any usb peripherals with it.

I'm not too sure of it, but I think the firewire800 on the iMac is backwards compatible with 400.

you need an adapter and it will work then. An adapter like this

There are a lot more makers now. One of the first ones was Sonnet, I bought that one and it cost twice as much then.

If memory serves me right, the iMac comes with a wireless keyboard and Magic Mouse. And I'll go out on a limb and say that yes, the work with the iMac.

Yes, you can use the same keyboard and mouse from your G5, assuming they're USB. They don't even have to be Apple-specific.
