Hi, i just got my macbook pro a week ago, and i've started to notice that i have "keys" imprinted on my screen. It looks like everytime i close the notebook, the keys press against the screen. What am I supposed to do about this? It's most noticeable with dark background applications.

Are you sure it's not dust on the screen? My PowerBook has a keyboard-pattern of dust on it right now. Get a computer screen cleaning cloth and wipe it.
It's probably just finger grease from the keyboard transmitted to the screen rather than actual permanent damage. Try cleaning it off carefully.
You can get special mats that you can cover over your keyboard before you close the lid to prevent this from happening. Kinda like the sheet of foam that came with your MBP from the factory.

Thanks everyone! I feel pretty reassured. What do you recommend to clean the screen with? The MBP manual said to only use water.
Oh and I'm a new convert to apple, long time PC user, im pretty blown away by how efficiently everything runs. I have a desktop with identical specs but this just feels so much faster, I honestly do get more done on the mac.

Best to stick only to water and one of those special computer screen cleaning cloths Lord Blackadder mentioned. Apparently it's not advised to use an alcohol based liquid.
I've found these screens to be quite difficult to clean. Especially as you don't want to apply a whole load of force (like you would cleaning a conventional CRT panel for instance). Just take your time to do it. Water definately helps, but use it sparingly. You don't want to drench the screen.
And get one of those special mats or use the foam sheet to prevent having to clean the screen every other day.
