For most people, it's hard to reach the middle keys with the thumbs. Even though I can, it's dfeinately not in the sweet spot. In landscape it's really a challenge.

So why not just split the keyboard...like an ergonomic keyboard might. It wouldn't look pretty but it would work better in a lot of instances. Or at least have the option would be nice. Maybe later.

i agree, typing was a pain in the arse

typing anything at all sucks. How do you type? I tried like a regular keypad and it was still awkward.

On a flat surface or my lap typing like a normal keyboard in landscape. I get 55-65wpm. I get 92wpm on a normal keyboard.

Edit: I prop it up in the typing position with the Apple case.

I'm typing now using the Apple case, propped up in my lap in landscape mode. I think typing is absolutely great this way. I can type pretty fast.

It did take a while to get used to having to go into symbols mode to get parenthesis, and the apostrophe and the quotes, but it is learnable.

I like to write fiction as a hobby and I find this to be totally doable on this keyboard. I think for most it will just take some practice to get good at it. Or use a Bluetooth keyboard.

I do have one request for Apple though... Please add some virtual arrow keys. That would be so much more useful then using a finger with smaller text boxes.

oh you got my vote on the virtual arrow keys!! That's literally the -one- thing that I prefer about the windows mobile "virtual keyboards".

I have to wonder, how is it that Apple can design a great virtual keyboard and NO ONE ELSE (on windows side) can do it? I mean.. WTF????? Does Apple own some blanket copyright/patent on "good virtual keyboard" or what??

I never use the keyboard in portrait mode because I have not found a way to type without it feeling awkward. I always use landscape and I type very fast in that orientation. No complaints here:p
