Keyboard issue

First I want to thank you guys. I've never posted here, but I've lurked a lot. Any issue that I've previously had I've found an answer to just by searching this place so you have been an invaluable resource to me. Now I've got an issue that I haven't been able to find an answer to.

I’m running a 27 inch, late 2013 iMac. Since installing El Capitan I’ve been having a keyboard problem. If the computer sits for awhile when I wake it the keyboard (standard iMac wireless) has an extreme lag. In addition, when the lag is taking place what I suppose are diacritic options appear above each letter typed.

I assume the lag has to do with some sort of memory leak; however, when I check the activity monitor nothing looks very different when comparing “no lag” sessions to “lag” sessions.

Please keep in mind that I’m ignorant so what look does NOT look different to me may look different to someone else.

Any suggestions?

Got exactly the same problem, very laggy with strange keyboard options and sometimes acts like keys are stuck. Just happened again after waking and solved by switching keyboard off and back on again. Something wrong only happened since El Capitan installed

I've been having a similar problem with my mid-2011 MacBook Air. Sometimes the keyboard will just stop responding altogether for ten or twenty seconds. Even the caps lock key won't light up. Then, some of the letters typed will appear all at once. I've only noticed it in Pages.

When you experience the keyboard lag, check in your System Preferences, Accessibility pane.
Go to Keyboard settings, and check if "Enable Sticky Keys" is turned on. If it is turned on, you will see various keycaps show when typed, and Sticky Keys is designed to lock a modifier key until another key is pressed. The symbol for the modifier key will display on the screen until an additional key is pressed. It is used for single-hand typing, or when physical challenges exist - like typing with a single finger, or a stick of some kind.
As sticky keys can be enabled by pressing the Shift key 5 times - perhaps you have a sticking Shift key.

Thanks. Whatever it was appears to have went away. I haven't had an incident since posting here.

Bluetooth: Unreliable wireless performance may occur when USB 3.0 external devices are close
Try moving some cords, hubs etc around.
I was getting terrible Magic mouse reception until I moved my USB hub over to the far side of the monitor, away from the bluuetooth antenna.
