Since downloading Sonoma, I find that I'm typically around 1 to 1.5 words ahead on my keyboard vs what's actually showing up on the screen. Extremely annoying. Anyone else having this issue? I've got an M2 Air with 16GB of RAM.

Curious as to which applications you are experiencing this typing input latency and whether your keyboard is the built-in or external.

All apps. I run my Air on an external monitor so I use a Magic Keyboard. Never had an issue until I downloaded Sonoma and I've used this specific setup for around a year now.

I did just test my MacBook on its own, which has zero issue. The problem did occur as soon as I downloaded Sonoma though, which is odd. I've seen two other posts between here and apple discussions with the same issue.

You tried with the monitor disconnected; unpaired & repaired the keyboard; turned BT off/on; restarted the Air installing Sonoma, I assume?

I have the same problem. Not only when typing but with all keyboard operations there is a 2 seconds lag. Turni off bluetooth makes the keyboard more responsive but it's still lagging. On MacBook Air M2 24 GB ram.

try changing some of the keyboard settings in system settings? perhaps this will 'jumpstart' things.

am on an M2 air (my second!) and no such issue...

Seems to be a problem with certain keyboard layouts. When switching to English it works better.
