I would like to use a more conventional keyboard so I looked for a third party keyboard that has a fingerprint sensor to use with the iMac. Couldn’t find one. However, in my research, a found a comment in Reddit that said you can log in with your Apple Watch. I’m thinking of getting a third party fingerprint scanner, if that will work, but I was wondering if the watch will work and if so, how it works to log in.

Third party fingerprint scanners of any kind will not work. They don't meet the necessary standard of security. But you can still log in with your Watch. I find it works for me about 50% of the time. When it doesn't work it usually complains that the wifi signal is too weak.
