Hello,

this is probably a common question.

I have installed Sierra on my late 2012 MBA and the keyboard is now oddly failing.

The row of keys between esc & power are not working properly. e.g.. The Volume up key (F12) now brings on the Dashboard. The rest apart from Power just do nothing on their own. I have not tried them with modification keys.

It is probably very simple - but I would love a simple solution.

Regards Sharkey

I feel your pain; I had mapped F15 to Shut Down, but even still it increases brightness which is something new. I've remapped my keys since I started using Macs with Leopard and never had a problem until macOS Sewer.

Sounds like you have activated the "use all F1,F2 etc as normal function keys" option in System Preferences > Keyboard....

It should be unticked.

Thank you very much 'logana'. I really did think it would be something that simple; so am really pleased to find it was.

You still have to know it of course and your knowledge proved exemplary !!

Thank you again.
