Keyboard not recognized during XP install

Greetings forums,
I' finally getting around to boot-camping my last generation Mac Mini running Leopard. I got the partition created just fine and the XP disc booted just fine.

Now for the problem: When I'm giventhe option to install, repair, or quit Windows XP Set-up, I can't select anything. My keyboard, an Apple Wired USB Aluminum, isnt recognized. Any ideas?

That's weird.. I was going to ask if your keyboard is wireless but it's not... It should recognize a wired keyboard without any problems.. strange..

I am using the wireless Mighty Mouse. Could that be messing it up? At first i thought my keyboard wasn't working because i had it plugged in through my monitor (this method works fine under OS X).

Is your XP disc a recent one or is it using an older service pack (or even pre-SP1 XP)? I had this exact problem with the built-in laptop keyboard on my Macbook and the solution was that my XP disc was too old and I had to "slipstream" it with SP2 to be able to get through the installer. Fortunately that wasn't too hard to do, it just required me to borrow a Windows PC for a few minutes.

Might be something else of course but worth a try!

Is this the install where you have to use the keyboard? The screens are blue, and you select the correct key to do an action. Hit F8 to agree than select the drive, press such and such key to delete the partition. You do not need a mouse at this point in the install. The mouse and keyboard drivers (basic ones) are installed during this point.

You can try unplugging the wireless mouse, and try installing again without the mouse. Try the easy step before doing the slip stream disc making. I am leaning towards an older media problem as well. Try out the mouse issue first, just to confirm.

I'm guessing it's just the disc. It's a really old Pre-SP1 version. I don't even remember where i got it from.

I ordered a new XP SP3 disc the other day for other reasons, ill try it once it arrives on Monday.
