Keyboard of the new MacBook Pro scratches the screen.

The lower edge of the frame around the keyboard is scratching the screen of my MacBook Pro 2016. Probably because I use laptop bag to carry it. It’s not the first Macbook that has this flaw.

Since I can't use the original box to carry it around, is there something I could buy to use between the keyboard and the screen prevent the scratching?

I’ve tried a piece of cloth but id didn’t work because it prevents the laptop from closing.

I'd like to note that with these covers, they will inevitably smudge your screen as they press right against it when the lid is closed. You'll be wiping down your screen often to get rid of the square keyboard imprints, but at least you won't have to worry about scratches.

Radtech ScreenSavrz. I use one on my new tMBP and it works great. No screen marks and the Mac still goes to sleep when closed.

You are welcome. I think I paid a $13 with shipping for the 13". I have used their product since 2012 with no problems. It also cleans the screen really well.

I've tried one of those for my 13" Touchbar MBP and it was too thick - made it wake up while it was being carried in the bag.

Been using mine for weeks, moving it all over the place and opening and closing multiple times a day. I just did a thorough cleaning of the screen and there isn't a single scratch and if there were I'd return it for a new one or to be fixed. This must be an isolated issue and using something like that screen protector on the keyboard all the time is a solution it seems incredibly inconvenient.

This happened to me as well. Returned it for a new one, my girlfriend uses the separator that came in the box, but I guess we'll be using those cloths in the link above soonish. I'd really wish Spigen still made screen protectors..

Have they ever made any for MacBooks, though? Also, they still make protectors for all kinds of devices, they just don't sell them directly. You can get them on Amazon and eBay.

They may have updates their product lineup, but now they have keyboard covers specific for the new MacBook Pro lines (13" & 15")

Sure, I rocked their screen protectors on my 2011 15', and they're pretty rad.

I got one for the 13"tMBP and the lid doesn't really want to close properly. Opening it is way too easy with the cloth inside, which makes me think the cloth presses against the screen all the time. So if the cloth is dirty it'll destroy the screen. Not really a comforting thought, also; the sound and feeling of opening and closing the mac is way better without something in between.

If you want to stop the scratching, you know what you have to do.

I'd look for a backpack that offers a "more protective" area in which to store the laptop. That is, reinforced against pressure that would compress the screen to the keyboard..
