When using MacBook air internal keyboard and I press 'p' character the sound is muted on / off. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Keyboard is setup with the F keys to Mac operations (brightness etc.). Does not do this on bluetooth keyboard.

Thanks in advance!

1. Assuming you are typing this on the internal keyboard, you can obviously type the character p since you have typed it about 6 times. So, what exactly are the circumstances under which the p becomes mute on/ mute off?

2. If you are typing this on the external keyboard and want to convey that this was always the case with the character, you need to take it back and get a replacement. Most likely a rare wiring error. Can't be sure unless more information is presented.

Thanks both for your replies.

On each key press of p the mute is toggle on/off. No problem with p typing. I see the mute box flash up on screen.

If I change the F key settings in sys prefs this stops it happening. Therefore unsure why a press of p seems to have the mute action. Not a big deal to use function and F key to have system actions but just a bit bizarre the p key has a system action in normal typing mode.
