While trying to clean the keyboard, one of the key broke...well the plastic part under the key that pushes the key up broke...

I need a keyboard replacement. Is there one in Apple store? Or should I go to ebay?
Also, is there any guide (I tried searching) that teaches you how to remove the old one and replaces the new one?
Does it break the warranty?

Thanks

Did just the key break? If so, I've heard that the Apple Store has extra keys and they could just pop a new one on.

i've read posts on these forums describing the same. i'd leave out the part about the key popping off while you were cleaning it, though. accidental damage isn't covered under warranty.

yeah actually the "scisscor" plastic thing broke...
I searched online and went to powermedic.com
I think I should just buy the broken key instead of replacing an entire keyboard...

is that a good idea?

Edit:
actually the little plastic nub is broken too...so I guess i need to buy a new keyboard.

my new question is:

Should I buy the new keyboard online, and send my computer AND the new keyboard to an Apple Store?
Thank you for all your help.

If Apple decides that the keyboard is covered under warranty, they'll supply a new one to install. You don't have to buy one to send with your machine.

if I go to the apple store myself, will they install it for me at the store?
