Is anyone having trouble syncing text keyboard shortcuts (i.e. "brb" > "be right back")?

I cannot get my iOS8 iPhone and iPad to sync at all.

I installed iOS8 on my iPhone first and enabled iCloud Drive, which I have read is not a good thing at this time as Yosemite is required for it to work on the Mac.

Are text shortcuts classed as "Documents and Data"? Perhaps this is the reason it is falling over for me.

Anyone else confirm?

Thanks.

Well that is a mistake I made by upgrading. I didn't realise there may be these issues.

Anyway; I used another iCloud account that has not been upgraded to iCloud Drive. I logged in on my iPhone, iPad and my Macbook Pro and tried again.

Non of the shortcuts would sync, regardless of where the shortcuts were added/changed/deleted.

I am restoring the iPad and iPhone again and starting from scratch to see if it makes a difference. The iPhone has restored already and it is not looking promising. Tried adding a shortcut from the Mac and one from the iPhone and the changes have not reflected to each other - though it might take a few minutes to propagate.

If it doesn't work I dunno what the hell is going on. Even if I did upgrade my account to iCloud Drive, the two iOS8 devices should sync; just not my MBP with Mavericks on... right?

Any help appreciated. Thanks.

I got it to work after logging out and back into iCloud on my mac and iPhone, however iCloud seems very temperamental at the moment...

Must have tried that... a million times :) Thanks for the advice though. As you said, iCloud seems to be all cattywampus at the moment!

Might just concede to the fact that its borked!

I'm having the same issue. "Upgraded" my iPad to iOS8 and am using iCloud Drive on all devices (6 Plus, iPad Air, and Mac Mini running Yosemite). iPad will not sync to iCloud Drive I think that is the issue (as that is where keyboard shortcuts are saved).

I finally got my keyboard shortcuts to sync on the iPad by turning iCloud drive on and off about 20 times on the iPad. However, lots of other things (data and documents stored in iCloud Drive) aren't syncing on the iPad. I actually have a support call scheduled tonite to go over the issue. Maybe I can shed some light in this thread after the call...

Would be appreciated if you let me/us know what you find out.

I gave up trying. Had to enter the ones I use most on each device which was a pain in the arse. Once Yosemite is released I will try again and ask Apple for help if required.

Gotta say it's a bit of a stupid move by Apple to add a feature to iOS that OSX also needs to have; but then not give users access to that feature on OSX for over a month. Silliness.

I try to keep up to date with as much news and information about Apple products and software, and this iCloud Drive issue just totally went past me. When I was setting up iOS on my iPhone for the first time and it asked me, I upgraded the iDrive thing without knowing the consequences. For the average user who doesn't follow the news on Apple stuff they would really have no chance of knowing and for those who use the Documents in iCloud feature a lot will be seriously pissed of I would imagine.

On the phone with them right now. Basically he can't figure it out. I've been getting error messages on my iPhone and iPad. Messages like "the connection to iCloud has timed out. Please try again". I asked the rep if this was possibly due to the strain on Apple's servers over the last day or two and he basically said he unofficially thought so as he had taken a ton of calls relating to iCloud issues.

I know that my issues didn't start until iOS 8 came out and i updated to iCloud Drive. Unfortunately those happened on the same day so it's impossible to tell if it's a server strain issue or an iCloud Drive issue. What I do know is that i've gotten many iCloud related error messages today on both devices and basically all the documents/data I sync has been hit or miss. I downloaded Garageband on my iPhone and iPad and i see a cloud file on my iPhone and not my iPad. I did the same with iMovie and see the file on my iPad and not iPhone lol. I have a feeling that once the craziness dies down then things will hopefully return to normal as I've never had syncing issues before this release.

On the other hand, Apple's cloud services have never been top-notch so a little part of me is concerned. I have another scheduled callback on Monday 8:30 as we decided to give it two days to see if the cloud behavior changed..I will update again with results.
